We picked the trail of the Chevalier d'Aux in 1632.
Parent of the Count of Armagnac, this family already owned a renowned
vineyard
where stagecoaches were stopping. They were called « pataches ». Since
then, this patache has become the logo of the company, it figures on
all the labels of château Patache d'Aux, and recalls the time when
human activity was based on the seasons.
Nowadays, lots of technical evolutions have been
integrated in our activity but we are still depending on climatic
changes as we stay humble in front of nature.
On a clayey and chalky terroir in Bégadan, not far from the Gironde, the vineyard covers 43 hectares.
The grape varieties composed of 60%
Cabernet-Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot,
allow the winemaker to make a very personnalized style to this wine for
each vintage.
Powerful and concentrated, the wines from Patache d'Aux present a
remarkable potential for aging and it is always astonishing to observe
the aromatic freshness and the solid tannic structure of some of the
vintages after 10 or 15 years.
